Shelly Isler

Owner/Instructor/Choreographer/Director

From Elma New York, Shelly began her dance training at the young age of 3.  With over 30 years of dance training, Shelly has studied with numerous dance educators in Jazz, Tap, Ballet, Acro, Contemporary, Lyrical, Hip Hop and Modern. Her love for dance began at Dance Spectrum in Depew, NY under the direction of Patty Neal.  Shelly continued her dance education at the State University of New York at Buffalo (UB) receiving a BFA Degree in Dance. While at UB she performed with the Zodiaque Dance Company.  After graduating college, Shelly began dancing professionally with Busch Gardens in Williamsburg, VA. Some of her Choreography/Directing credits with Busch Gardens Williamsburg Include; This is Oktoberfest,  Miracles (2009-2013) and Deck the Halls (2009-2013). Shelly is very passionate about dance and proper dance education. She  is excited to be passing on her knowledge of and love for dance to others.

Heather Booysen

Instructor/Choreographer/Photographer

Heather started her dance training in the suburbs of Chicago where she trained with Julie Cartier, Pam Johnson-Tannis, Arian Dolan, and Sandra Scaletta. During high school, she continued her training at Gus Giordano’s with John Leher. In 2004, she graduated from The State University of New York at Buffalo with her BFA in Dance. There she trained under the direction of Tom Ralabate, William Thomas, Tressa Crehan, Jeanne Fornarolla, as well as numerous artists in residency. She was a member of Zodiaque Studio Dance Ensemble for three years, as well as performed and choreographed in Dancer’s Workshop and Young Choreographers, as well as additional special programs. After college, Heather performed for three years as a Production Dance for Carnival Cruise Lines. She then spent two years as a member of The Cartier Collective and teaching in at various Chicago dance studios before moving to Virginia. Heather started teaching at the age of 16, and has since worked with students from 2 years old through adults.  She spent the last six years teaching in Williamsburg, VA and working with the dancers of SI Dance as a substitute and photographer.  She is excited to join the SI Dance family this year.

Denise Urban

Denise Urban is from Alexandria, Virginia and began her dance training at Chris Collins Dance Studio, studying all dance styles and completing Cecchetti Grades 1 through 6. She attended Radford University where she studied under danah bella, Ji-Eun Lee, Deborah McLaughlin, Inessa Plekhanova, Aleksey Plekhanov, and Amy VanKirk. She has represented Radford at American College Dance Association conferences, performed at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C., the Moss Arts Center in Blacksburg, VA, and in the NASA Langley Centennial Celebration at the Ferguson Center for the Arts. She has worked with guest artists such as Jenai Cutcher-West, Stuart Pimsler, and MacArthur Fellow, Kyle Abraham. Her performances include Radford University's Nutcracker productions (Clara’s Friend, Soldier, Snowflake, Marzipan) as well as Roanoke Ballet Theater's Nutcracker (Nun, Flower). She has performed in musicals at Radford such as Anything Goes (Angel Purity) and Oklahoma! (Dream Laurey, Ensemble). Denise received her B.A. in Dance and B.B.A. in Economics in 2018. Since graduating, she has performed around D.C., Northern Virginia, and in New York with Next Reflex Dance Collective while teaching at her childhood studio. After moving to Williamsburg in 2022, Denise began teaching at Quarterpath Recreation Center while working for the WJCC School Board and Central Office. She is excited to join SI Dance and teach some wonderful students!
